Ezra Jack Keats

The Snowy Day (1962), Puffin, 28 pp.

A little something to chill you during these hot mid-summer days: spend a half hour with Peter, as he enjoys a new fall of snow.

Keat’s collage-and-gouache illustrations, with Peter’s red snowsuit contrasting sharply with the multi-hued snow, are a treat for the eye.

If you’re lucky, in 6 months or so, you’ll be remembering the summer with something like nostalgia as you don another wool sweater.

NB: The Ezra Jack Keats Foundation website has activities for kids and suggestions for teachers. Check it out.
